DETAILS
OF THE TOWED ARTILLERY DIGITAL FIRE CONTROL SYSTEM:
AdaRose engineers
developed the Towed Howitzer (155AH RFPI) Digital Fire Control System (DFCS)
prototype software by re-designing, re-hosting, and integrating Paladin software
to operate with new hardware components including a Towed Weapon Inertial Navigation
System (TWINS), a Mission Manager Computer, a Direct Fire Sight, and Crew Displays,
mounted on the 155AH to create a Digital Fire Control System that was unique
for use with a Towed Howitzer. This innovative approach produced a Proof of
Concept Prototype in 2 months and a Field Capable Prototype in 6 months. Here's
a good example of how reusing legacy software with new Hardware can save costs
and shorten schedule.
