OF THE MORTAR FIRE DIRECTION CENTER (FDC) SOFTWARE:
AdaRose engineers
developed the software for the MORTAR FDC system by re-designing and re-hosting
the Army's M30 Mortar Ballistic Computer Software and integrating a Ballistic
Kernel (BK). The software runs on a Ruggedized Laptop Computer mounted within
a Light Armored Vehicle. The FDC can control 4 Mortars in normal operation or
8 Mortars in reversionary mode. A dual-language capability was implemented for
our allies. The system provides Secure Digital Communications between the Fire
Direction Center, the Mortars, and a Forward Observer. AdaRose engineers developed
the Diagnostics Software and grid map conversion algorithms were incorporated.
The 120mm Mortars were mounted on Light Armored Vehicles (Marine Corps version)
and were digitally linked to the Fire Direction Center through a Delco modified
Vista fire control computer. Each Mortar has a range of 9200m and can
traverse a full 360 degrees.
